Tour Highlights
Days 1 - 3
5* JW Marriott Istanbul Bosphorus
Bed and Breakfast
Your tour will begin with a meet and assist at Istanbul airport from your international (or domestic) flight, followed by a 45-minute private VIP transfer to your chosen hotel. For this tour, we suggest the stunning luxury JW Marriott (budget permitting).
We will include a half-day city tour with a private guide on the first day (or second day, depending on your arrival time). This is a great way to discover the best of the city and decide which areas you want to explore more in the coming days.
Istanbul
Days 3 - 10
5* Biblos Resort
Breakfast
After 3 nights in Istanbul, take an internal flight to Izmir, followed by a 1hr 45m transfer to Alacati. You can stop off at the ancient city of Ephesus, where you will visit the Basilica of St. John and the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
We recommend the luxurious Biblos Hotel in Alacati as the very best, but there are other great properties that fit different budgets. As always, speaking to an expert here who can guide you to the best property for you is best.
Alacati
Alacati is the best Windsurfing holiday resort in the Mediterranean! Nowhere else provides such exceptional conditions, top-level equipment, easy access, high-standard hotels, and a charming local town. Alacati is not only an amazing windsurfing holiday destination, but it is also perfect for non-windsurfing partners and family.
The beautiful and historic town of Alacati (a short taxi ride from the beach resorts) has many coffee shops and open air terraces with bars and restaurants and has a lot to offer visitors. The shops and boutiques in nearby Cesme are well worth a visit with a great range of local goods and typical Turkish wares.
The main windsurf spot is in a huge protected bay with a 500 metre long and 400 metre wide shallow area of warm shimmering turquoise water. To the south, the bay gives way to the open sea. The wind is constant and reliable. It blows sideshore from the left all summer, and the flat water creates ideal conditions for everyone from beginner to expert windsurfers.
Those looking to learn to windsurf and practise their new skills will be treated to near-perfect beginner conditions in the morning. Whilst the more advanced will find Alacati perfect for improving as the wind speed picks up in the afternoon. There is a kite spot on the opposite side of the bay that has similar water and wind conditions. It can be reached by car or by boat from the local watersports centres.
The huge, warm and shallow lagoon makes Alacati is the perfect place for kids to get into windsurfing. Combined with the light morning winds it makes Alacati extremely safe and ideal for children to learn how to windsurf. With specially trained kids instructors and an excellent range of children’s equipment youngsters have a lot of fun and quickly improve.
From mid May until the end of September the infamous Meltemi wind blows from the north. The air current is softer in the morning and increases in strength steadily throughout the afternoon. In spring and autumn, the prevailing Poiras wind comes from a southerly direction blowing sideshore from the right and nice small waves break in the bay. Beginners and intermediate windsurfers, in particular, will enjoy the excellent wind conditions in Alacati
