The beautiful island of Boracay is located around 300km south of Manila, accessed by internal flight plus a 30-60 minute transfer. The Island has won numerous awards in prestigious travel magazines for its stunning beaches. The windward side of the island is quite quiet, with just a few hotels, and the main focus of the windsurfing in the wind season from November to April. Around a 10-15 minute walk the other side of the island is where you will find numerous good quality hotels and beach bars, this side can be very busy.
Boracay makes for a fantastic windsurf holiday destination as it offers the rare combination of stunning beaches, relatively quiet on the windsurfing side (with protected lagoon for beginners and improvers), but then great nightlife and atmosphere close by when you want it. This combination makes Boracay a good choice for both a dedicated windsurf holiday but with enough to satisfy any non-windsurfing partner or family.

The Windsurf Spots On Boracay
On Boracay there are 2 principal beaches; White Beach and Bulabog Beach. Bulabog Beach is dedicated to windsurfers and kitesurfers with a perfect lagoon for beginner and improvers. An outer reef protects the lagoon where there are waves for the very experienced.
In side the lagoon the bottom is a mixture of sand, sea grass and some rocks, you may come across sea urchins. The lagoon is largely shallow and flat at low tide, perfect for blasting and freestyling. At higher tides more choppy. On some occasions a combination of strong winds and high tide can bring swells into the lagoon for some fun port tack jumping. At very low spring tides fins size for windsurfers may be a considered.

The windy season runs from November to April, when the NE trade winds blow consistently throughout the whole day, making Boracay a perfect winter getaway for those looking for an idyllic beautiful location with fantastic hotels.
