Over sixteen days this tour links four of the northeast's best riding spots, from Jericoacoara, the windsurfing and wing foiling capital of Brazil, west through Maceió and the wild Parnaíba Delta to the flat-water lagoons of Atins. Partway through, the Parnaíba Delta breaks up the riding with something extraordinary off the water: a rare open-sea delta of more than 75 islands, freshwater lagoons and mangroves, alive with scarlet ibises, caimans and capybaras and best seen on a sunset boat trip. Days 1–5
Jericoacoara
Heading North now to Jericoacoara (Jeri), the windsurf (and wingfoil) capital of Brazil. Apart from some of the best Windsurfing and Wingfoiling in Brazil, Jeri is famous for being a party town, so it can get a little 'lively'. If you prefer a quieter spot to stay, we can switch you to Prea, just 20 minutes by beach buggy. It has a more relaxed atmosphere, but still has some excellent restaurants and superb properties.

The wind here is without a doubt some of the most reliable in the world, especially the last half of the year, when the wind continuously blows like crazy. So if you like strong wind this is worth considering. What was once a small fishing village is now a bustling lively place with many posadas, small bars and restaurants. During high season this location can get very busy so it is not for everyone. In recent years there has been a hand full of very good accommodations catering for a more discerning client.
So if you are looking for a destination to provide non-stop sailing and a lively atmosphere Jericoacoara is perfect for you!

About Camocim and Maceio +
Maceió Beach (Praia do Maceió) is a small fishing village on the coast of Ceará, in Brazil's north-east — not to be confused with the city of Maceió, which is the capital of Alagoas, much further south. This guide is about the windsurf spot in Ceará, near the town of Camocim. Maceió is one of the few genuinely great windsurfing spots in Brazil. What sets it apart isn't just the wind — it's the fact that there's a great windsurf centre right on the beach, with modern, well-maintained equipment available to hire. At Maceió, you can turn up without your own gear and still get a full week of quality sailing.
The village itself is small — a scattering of fishermen's houses among the palms and dunes, with the beach as the obvious centre of everything. There's no real nightlife here, and that's rather the point: people come to Maceió to sail, not to party.
Maceió suits intermediate to advanced windsurfers best. The water changes character with the tide — at lower tide you get flatter water and easier conditions, while as the tide comes in, small waves start to build. It's not a heavy wave spot, so it's forgiving rather than intimidating, but you do want some experience under your belt to make the most of it.
The wind is at its most reliable from July through to the end of November, and this is the window we'd recommend building a trip around. You can push a little earlier or later in the year and still find good sailing, but these five months are consistently the best bet if wind reliability matters to you.
Good-quality accommodation directly on the beach at Maceió is limited. As with every location we offer, we've visited every property here ourselves, and we work with the best of what's genuinely available — but most of it is aimed squarely at windsurfers on a dedicated sport holiday, rather than travellers wanting a high standard of property for a non-sailing partner.
If having a higher standard of accommodation matters to you, there is a good option around 15 minutes away by taxi — a well-appointed beach property we also work with, though it isn't right on the windsurf beach itself. It's a genuine trade-off between location and property standard, and which way you go depends on what matters most for your trip.

Days 10–12
The Parnaiba Delta Reserve
From Maceio, your next stop is the wild Parnaíba Delta, around 4 hours by 4x4. Also known as the Delta do Parnaíba, it is one of Brazil’s most unique and breathtaking natural wonders, located where the Parnaíba River meets the Atlantic Ocean. It spans across the border of the states of Piauí and Maranhão and is one of only a few open-sea river deltas in the world, making it a rare phenomenon outside of places like the Nile and the Mekong Deltas. Covering an area of around 2,700 square kilometers, this sprawling delta consists of more than 70 islands, freshwater lagoons, lush mangroves, and golden sand dunes, creating a diverse and captivating landscape.
About The Parnaiba Delta Reserve +
The Parnaíba River Delta is an ecological sanctuary of enormous natural beauty. It is the only delta in the Americas that flows into the open sea and is the third largest in the world. Its branches form an archipelago with over 75 islands, dunes, freshwater lagoons and a lush tropical forest where crocodiles, gibbons, capybaras, monkeys and birds of rare natural beauty can be found. It is here that at sunset, we watch the unforgettable Flight of the Guarás every day.
The delta is divided into five arms, with Canárias Island being the largest and most well-known for its natural beauty and wildlife. The mangrove forests and islands within the delta are home to a rich array of biodiversity, including caimans, capybaras, and countless bird species such as herons, scarlet ibises, and parrots. Visitors might also spot monkeys, sea turtles, and even dolphins near the river mouth.
Parnaíba Delta is perfect for eco-tourism and adventure activities. You can take boat tours through the mangrove channels, explore dune-filled islands like Ilha das Canárias, swim in the freshwater lagoons, and spot wildlife. Sunset tours are especially popular, offering breathtaking views as the sun sets over the delta, casting golden hues over the water and sand.
This natural reserve is a lesser-known gem compared to other Brazilian destinations, allowing for a more tranquil experience amidst untouched landscapes and vibrant ecosystems.

Days 12–16
Atins
Your final destination is Atins, around another 6 hours by 4x4, including river crossings, and finally arriving by speedboat. Atins is an incredible place both on and off the water. It is especially good for Wingfoiling.
At the end of your stay here, you will have a 1-hour boat + 3-hour road transfer to Sao Luiz airport for your onward flight.
