As an official Duotone Pro Center, the team is dedicated to delivering the highest standards of service, paired with the latest equipment and professional instruction. The center enjoys a prime beachfront setting in Kiwengwa, one of Zanzibar’s top kite spots, located just 62 km north of Paje.

While Zanzibar’s tides can shift dramatically every six hours, Kiwengwa is one of the few spots where deep-water channels ensure rideable Wingfoil conditions even at low tide.

The school is fully equipped to ensure riders enjoy a smooth and comfortable experience both on the water and on land. Guests can take advantage of brand-new Duotone gear, secure storage lockers, free Wi-Fi, an outdoor shower, changing rooms, a chilled lounge area, sunbeds and shades, and convenient access to a beachside bar and restaurant. Additional touches such as spa services and a small boutique add to the relaxed, premium atmosphere.

Kiwengwa also offers several advantages over the better-known spot of Paje. The deep-water channels adjacent to the sandbanks allow for uninterrupted riding across all tide levels, a rare benefit in Zanzibar where many lagoons empty at low tide. This makes the area particularly well-suited for foiling and a top choice for riders who want maximum water time.

Finally, Kiwengwa remains something of an insider’s secret. With far fewer riders than Paje, it offers plenty of space to cruise, train, or practise new skills in a relaxed, uncrowded environment—ideal for both beginners and seasoned kitesurfers seeking a more exclusive Zanzibar experience.

Wing Foil Rental & Lessons - With warm water that reaches 29°C in February, no wetsuit is needed—just long, enjoyable sessions in perfectly clear, tropical lagoon water. The Center Zanzibar offers exceptional wing foiling conditions, making it one of the island’s standout locations for both learning and progressing in this rapidly growing sport. Positioned directly in front of a deep-water channel, the center guarantees ideal foiling conditions even at low tide—a major advantage in Zanzibar. Riders can enjoy smooth, flat water and consistent wind, while the nearby reef adds an exciting wave option for those looking to take their skills to the next level. With high-quality equipment and expert coaching, guests are perfectly placed for an unforgettable wing foiling experience on the island’s turquoise waters.

Wing foil rentals are available exclusively to independent riders or students who have completed lessons at the center.

Requirements: ability to foil independently for at least 100 metres (jibes and tacks not required).
Equipment: premium Duotone wing foil gear paired with ION accessories.

Wing foiling is known for being intuitive and incredibly fun to learn. Combining elements of windsurfing, kite foiling, and surfing, it delivers a unique, floating sensation that appeals to riders of all backgrounds. It also excels in light-wind conditions, making it the perfect complement to Zanzibar’s consistent breezes. To ensure smooth progression, instructors use BbTALKIN waterproof communication systems, allowing real-time guidance during every step of the lesson.

For those new to the sport, the Beginner Wing Foil Course spans 9 hours over 3 days, providing a structured and enjoyable introduction. Students will cover all essential safety procedures and work toward their first successful waterstarts. The programme includes:

Kitesurf Rental & Lessons - The center offers a comprehensive range of the latest Duotone kitesurfing equipment, ensuring riders of all levels can enjoy premium gear throughout their stay. From kites and boards to lycras, harnesses, helmets, life jackets, shoes, and more, the center provides everything needed for an exceptional session on the water.

The Kiwengwa lagoon caters beautifully to all levels. Beginners and intermediates will appreciate the mix of shallow and deeper water, while more advanced riders can make the most of flat-water conditions created by the protective outer reef. Although the water may become choppier at high tide, riders enjoy predominantly flat sessions throughout the day. On full moon nights, the bright natural light even makes night kiting possible. For professionals seeking a challenge, the lagoon’s natural reef also delivers fun, playful wave conditions.

Riders must be independent (VDWS Level 4 / IKO Level 3) to rent equipment. For those without a license, a short check-up (USD 20) is required to obtain certification. Additional services—including equipment storage, as well as kite launching, landing, and packing—are available for a small fee.

All kitesurfing courses are taught by professional, certified instructors in flat, shallow water—ideal for safe and steady progression. The teaching team includes IKO-certified instructors and experienced assistants, with lessons kept to a maximum of two students per instructor for personalised coaching. Private lessons can also be arranged for riders seeking one-to-one instruction.

To further enhance the learning experience, the center uses BbTALKIN waterproof communication systems, allowing real-time coaching and instant feedback on the water. Whether learning the basics or refining advanced skills, guests can expect world-class instruction, premium equipment, and the perfect environment to progress with confidence.

Windsurf Rental & Lessons - Due to the relatively light wind in Zanzibar, it is best suited to beginner Windsurfers or those that don't mind cruising with a large sail. The Center Zanzibar provides a good selection of windsurfing gear, ensuring riders enjoy the best possible experience on the island. Guests can select boards and sails on-site, perfectly matched to the day’s wind conditions and their personal skill level, creating an effortless start to every session.

Kitesurfing Lessons with a personal instructor gives you the opportunity to have a 2-on-1 interaction with your instructor to help you learn at a pace that is driven by you. The Learn To Kitesurf course aims to get you riding, while also teaching you how to read the conditions and utilise your equipment safely and correctly.

You will start with the basics; this includes setup of your equipment, safety features that you will utilise and how to fly a small 2metre trainer kite. When your instructor feels you are ready you can then head to the water. On day one you will only be using the kite and not go on the board just yet. Entering the water is when the fun starts! Here you will be taught how to properly fly an inflatable kitesurfing kite, how to control your kite and what to do if you crash it in the water. On day one you will be comfortable flying the kite and know what to do in any situation.

Note:

Semi-private lessons are offered with a maximum of two people and ensure fast progression. Your course includes Kite, board, Harness, wetsuit, life jacket and insurance.

The range of equipment will vary from each different kitesurf school, so sometimes the exact kite size may not be available. Kitesurf rental packages are great if you want to experiment with different types of equipment before you decide to invest in your own, or if you just don't want toe hassle of taking your own equipment.

The quality of kitesurf rental equipment will vary from each different sport centre. Take a look at the sport centre details for more information on this. if you are not sure then you can always call us. We only work with the best kitesurf centres in each resort and do our best to visit every centre we offer.

Spend as much time as possible having fun on the water with daily unlimited equipment rental. This includes boards, sails, harness and wetsuit. Most centres will 'fix' your ideal board size to ensure availability, but you have access to all available equipment. It is important to pre-book your windsurf rental as part of your holiday to be sure of availability, especially in over the high season periods.
