Why we rate this centre

The centre at Ponta Leme is a great choice for experienced windsurfers and wingfoilers. It benefits from ideal wind conditions right in front of it and provides a wide selection of rental equipment from Fanatic and Duotone. The Ponta Leme school also offers courses for advanced wingfoiling and windsurfing levels.

Our partner windsurf centre at Ponta Leme is situated on the east coast of the island of Sal and is about 15-20 walk from Santa Maria Beach (where many of the hotel are). For water start level and above, this is an amazing windsurf spot, and for those that like flat water blasting, plus some easy glassy rolling waves, this spot is awesome! The launch is on a small area with some small rocks and cross offshore wind, so it can be a bit gusty at the start. However, after just a few meters, the wind becomes super clean and the water is like glass. There are some small clean waves that wrap around a reef a little further out. 

There is a very nice cafe/restaurant for between sessions or for non-windsurfing partners/families to spend a little time.

Daily rental of boards, rig and sails. Most centres will 'fix' your ideal board size to ensure availability, but you have access to all available equipment. It is important to pre-book your windsurf rental as part of your holiday to be sure of availability, especially over the high season periods. Rental can only be used on consecutive days. Please note that local prices can be significantly more expensive than pre-booked prices.

  • Please make a note of your ideal board size and style in the 'notes' section.
  • Rental can only be used on consecutive days.
  • In the case of no wind, most centers will allow you to use other sports equipment, such as: SUP and Surf boards.
  • Equipment insurance NOT included. Please check your travel insurance, or most centres will offer a local insurance (approx Euro 45/ week)

    For windsurf rental of equipment, you may be required to produce a VDWS/IKO/RYA or equivalent licence to prove your ability to rent (For Egypt this is mandatory, and if unable to provide you will need to do a skills test and pay for a licence locally)
