Zaltana Riverboat, in detail

The Zaltana Riverboat

The Zaltana Riverboat marks a significant milestone for expedition travel in Brazil as the first vessel of its standard to offer regular departures in the country. Designed to unite comfort, purpose, and environmental responsibility, Zaltana introduces a contemporary vision for experiencing the Amazon—one that values the forest standing and uplifts the communities that protect it.

With 10 panoramic double cabins, spacious viewing areas, and a dedicated team of expert naturalists and biologists, the vessel delivers an immersive journey built around connection: to nature, to local culture, and to the meaning of conservation in one of the world’s most important ecosystems. The on-board atmosphere reflects the spirit of a true Amazon expedition, supported by attentive service and thoughtful programming.

Travel begins with navigation across one of the most beautiful stretches of the Amazon River, culminating in the dramatic Meeting of the Waters, where the Amazon River and the Negro River run side by side without mixing—an extraordinary natural phenomenon found only here.

The journey continues into Anavilhanas Archipelago National Park and Jaú National Park, both designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites for their exceptional biodiversity and ecological uniqueness. Dense forests, intricate waterways, and mirror-like lakes offer extraordinary opportunities for exploration, photography, and wildlife observation.

A notable advantage of travelling along the Negro River is its acidic pH, which means the region has no mosquitoes—a rare and highly appreciated benefit that enhances outdoor activities. During the dry season, the river reveals beautiful freshwater beaches, creating ideal conditions for swimming and enjoying the landscape from a new perspective.

Day 1 — Manaus | Embarkation | Meeting of the Waters Boarding begins in Manaus, followed by navigation toward the Meeting of the Waters. A welcome cocktail and lunch are served onboard before visits to the Rubber Museum and a local Indigenous community.

Days 2 & 3 — Anavilhanas Archipelago National Park | Jaú National Park Exploration of UNESCO-protected areas through guided forest walks, canoe outings, wildlife observation, and visits to riverside communities. During the dry season, natural river beaches appear—perfect for swimming in the warm, mosquito-free waters of the Negro River.

Day 4 — Remote Channels and Lakes of the Negro River Navigation through narrow channels and quiet lakes ideal for birdwatching, photography, and peaceful moments surrounded by untouched rainforest. Sunsets on the Negro River are a memorable highlight.

Day 5 — Return to Manaus | Disembarkation Morning navigation back to Manaus, followed by a farewell lunch and disembarkation with transfer to the airport or hotel.
