Why you'll love windsurfing in Venezuela!

Venezuela is located in the north of South America; as it is bathed by the Caribbean Sea waters, it enjoys of a tropical climate and pleasing temperatures during the whole year. The natural attractions go from Andean Mountains, with their imposing peaks; to Margarita Island, that is the main windsurfing spot of the country. Windsurfing holidays in Venezuela will allow you to discover the astounding environment of Margarita Island; welcoming accommodation, heavenly beaches were you can contemplate incredible sunsets, warm flat waters and mild winds; that’s what makes Venezuela a perfect windsurfing destination. The unit of Venezuelan currency is the bolívar, abbreviated to B. Watch carefully the notes you pay and receive because some notes of various denominations have similar colors and is easily confused. By far the most popular foreign currency is the US dollar, so stick strictly to the greenback. The usual official place to change your cash is at a casa de cambio. They exist in most major cities and buy foreign currency (but don’t sell it) at the official exchange rate. Visa and MasterCard are the most useful credit cards in Venezuela. Both are accepted as a means of payment for goods and services. They are also useful for taking cash advances from banks or ATMs. American Express is the most recognized traveler’s check brand. Some tour operators will accept traveler’s checks as payment, but cash is generally preferred. Venezuela is close to the equator, so average temperatures vary little throughout the year. They do, however, change with altitude, dropping about 5.4°F with every 1000ft increase (6.5°C per 1000m). Since over 90% of Venezuela lies below 1000m, you’ll experience temperatures between 70°F and 85°F in most places. The Andean and coastal mountain ranges have more moderate temperatures. The tourist season in Venezuela runs year-round, but consider the climate and Venezuelan holidays before finalizing your travel plans. Venezuela has one dry season (roughly November/December to April/May) and one wet season (the rest of the year). The dry season is certainly more pleasant for traveling, particularly for hiking or other outdoor activities, though sightseeing in cities or towns won’t be greatly disturbed by rain. Most vaccines don’t produce immunity until at least two weeks after they’re given, so visit a physician four to eight weeks before departure. Ask your doctor for an International Certificate of Vaccination (otherwise known as the yellow booklet), which will list all the vaccinations you’ve received. This is mandatory for countries that require proof of yellow-fever vaccination upon entry, but it’s a good idea to carry it wherever you travel.UK / EU passport holders: A full 10 year passport valid until at least 6 months after date of return. No visa required. Other passport holders: Please check with Venezuelan Embassy (020) 7387 6727
