Ibiza is an island for all seasons and the best time to practice land or water activities is off season, when the crowd has gone and the pace of the island has quietened down ! Sunset Point Sports Resort and its exclusive services is an oasis to enjoy Ibiza 365 days a year, in the heart of the the "Magic Island". Ibiza is one of the most original and attractive islands in the World. Without ever loosing its charm as a peaceful hideaway, Ibiza has become a cosmopolitan meeting point of the swinging jet set and artists from all over the world. The island was made famous at the end of the sixties by the hippies, which endowed the Ibiza with the status of a counter culture paradise. Although Ibiza is now somewhat ill famed for its clubbing, the island has remained a quiet and peaceful place, free from mass tourism which has affected so many other Mediterranean destinations. The island has retained its "bohemian" charm and ancient Carthaginian influences, with its exotic white-washed cubic houses reminiscent of North Africa. Ibiza is only a 2.5 hour flight away, and the transfer to San Antonio Bay only takes 25 minutes. That also makes Ibiza a perfect long weekend getaway.. Part of the Balearic Islands, Ibiza and its smaller sister island of Formentera are known as the "Islas Pitiusas" (from the Greek word "pitys" meaning pine tree) because of the abundance of pines that cover their landscapes. A green and pristine setting surrounded by crystal clear waters and blessed by a balmy Mediterranean climate with sunny days and mild temperatures throughout the year. The island is also rich in history, going back to the Phoenicians, and offers plenty of opportunity for cultural visits, excursions and sightseeing. The old walled town of Ibiza and the narrow strait separating the islands of Ibiza and Formentera, are both listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites for their cultural and natural values. A short 30 min. crossing away, Formentera is known as "The Last Paradise of the Mediterranean”. The soul of Sunset Point Sports Resort is Water Sports, from Surf, SUP (Stand-Up-Paddle), kitesurf and windsurf, to wakeboard, wakesurf, waterskiing, jetski, diving, sailing, kayak, canoe, apnea, swimming, as well as boat charter or deep sea fishing. Very good good normal bad
Wakeboard, wakesurf and waterskiing are usually practiced early morning or late afternoon, when the sea is calm. When the breeze picks up, the Bay offers then a perfect environment for kitesurf or windsurf. The Bay of San Antonio is also the perfect place to dive in crystal clear waters along its wild coast and cliffs, as well as chartering a sailing or motor boat to discover Ibiza mysteries from the sea, its solitary coves, secret caves and desert islands, or spend the day in Formentera, crew included. This area is also the best of Ibiza for deep-sea fishing, thanks to its great variety and quantity of fishes. The resort's swimming pool plays host to the swimming and apnea courses.
The best months for windsurfing are October through April, but there are good conditions all year round, even in summer thanks to the thermal breezes. Thermal breezes develop as the result of shoreline land heating up above sea temperature during the day and dropping below sea temperature at night. Sea breezes (morning) are directed onshore and land breezes (afternoon), offshore. Both thermals initially develop perpendicular to the shoreline. Rainfall is uneven and scarce. Prevailing winds are from the W-SW in winter, and from the E in summer, because of thermal depression over the centre of the Iberian Peninsula.
