Olinto Atlas Mountains
Olinto Atlas Mountain Retreat is a luxurious and tranquil hideaway nestled in the Ouirgane Valley, approximately a 55-minute drive south of Marrakech. Created by Prince Fabrizio Ruspoli di Poggio Suasa, a pioneer in Moroccan hospitality, this exclusive retreat offers guests an intimate experience amid the majestic Atlas Mountains. Its secluded setting amidst olive groves and lush gardens provides a peaceful escape from the bustle of city life, making it an ideal destination for travellers seeking luxury, privacy, and a deep connection with nature.
The retreat's location in the heart of the Berber region allows guests to engage with the local culture through guided hikes, cycling tours, and visits to nearby villages. Many of the staff from the surrounding communities offer warm and personalised service, contributing to the retreat's serene and welcoming atmosphere.
The retreat comprises nine private pavilions, each thoughtfully designed to blend traditional Moroccan craftsmanship with modern comforts. Constructed using local materials such as rammed earth, carved plaster, and painted wood, the pavilions are adorned with intricate mashrabiya screens, woven rugs, and antique furnishings from the prince's personal collection. Each pavilion is set within its own private walled garden, ensuring utmost privacy and serenity.
There are two types of pavilions: standard pavilions and pavilions with private heated pools. The standard pavilions span approximately 180 square meters and feature a king-size bed (or twin beds upon request), a spacious ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower and bathtub, a desk area, and a rooftop terrace with a daybed offering panoramic mountain views. The pavilions with private pools are larger, at around 220 square meters, and include a separate living area with a sofa and desk, as well as a private heated infinity pool in the garden. All pavilions are equipped with Wi-Fi, Smart TVs with Netflix, Nespresso machines, tea-making facilities, and a complimentary minibar stocked daily with local wine, beer, and soft drinks. The maximum occupancy for each pavilion is two adults, as the retreat is designed for guests aged 16 and over.
Olinto's facilities are designed to enhance relaxation and immersion in the natural surroundings. Guests can unwind in the main outdoor swimming pool, which offers stunning views of the Atlas Mountains, or in the smaller heated pool. The retreat also features a traditional hammam and offers a range of massages using natural, locally sourced ingredients. For those interested in culinary experiences, Olinto provides Berber cooking classes where guests can learn to prepare authentic Moroccan dishes using fresh ingredients from the on-site organic kitchen garden. The restaurant serves a menu that combines Moroccan and international cuisine, with many ingredients sourced locally or grown on the property.
