The seaside town of Langebaan is located just an hour and a half down the coast from South Africa’s iconic city of Cape Town. While experienced windsurfers flock to Cape Town for its strong winds and amazing waves, Langebaan offers a more tranquil environment for those looking to learn to windsurf or improvers wanting to advance their skills. Set within a protected reserve, Langebaan’s lagoon offers a flat water haven for windsurfers with a large expanse of turquoise water and amazing accommodation options and centres right on site.
With fantastic wind reliability in the South African summer months, between November and March, you could windsurf right through from sunup to sunset, but the area also offers a whole host of other activities for families to enjoy or when you are looking for a well-deserved break for tired arms and legs.
Located just outside of Langebaan, Thali Thali Safari Lodge offers a great experience for those who have never been on safari before. Spot giraffes, zebras and wildebeest from the comfort of a game drive vehicle or enjoy a relaxed horse safari through the reserve where you can really feel at one with the wildlife. A bit further out, the authentic village of !Khwa ttu offers visitors the chance to experience the fascinating world of the San people, with an educational and culinary experience that is truly wondrous. For those looking to venture further afield, a trip to Langebaan can be combined with a Big Five safari to one of the amazing reserves located just a few hours away.

The village is situated right at the entrance to the West Coast National Park where you can enjoy leisurely drives, as well as a number of mountain biking trails and hikes. While hiking or cycling through this magnificent area be sure to keep an eye out for ostriches and eland or one of the many other game species found in the park.
The Langebaan Country Estate is home to the West Coast’s only 18-hole Gary Player-designed course. This beautifully maintained course is great for golfers of all skill levels with amazing natural rock formations, large water features and a variety of bird life and buck frequenting the course. The estate also offers some well signposted running, walking and cycling trails with bikes available for rent. A mashie course is also located in Langebaan for the not-so-serious golfer!
Langebaan is home to a number of fantastic eateries which offer amazing cuisine at unbelievable value for money.
