Aquila Safari Lodge is a 4-star establishment in the Southern Karoo. The 10,000-hectare reserve is home to the Big 5 legends - elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino. Aquila Private Game Reserve is the closest reserve to Cape Town, being a short drive from the city. Setting the scene are spellbinding landscapes, carpets of wildflowers and wildlife. It is a place of wide spaces, immense horizons, craggy mountain ranges, jutting hills, an ancient seabed, and a massive clear sky at night.

Accommodation options at Aquila Private Game Reserve include premier, family and luxury chalets. The reserve brings the outdoors inside, using earthy tones and decor in browns and beiges, thatch, slate and rock elements. Special attention has been paid to chalet privacy and unbridled picture-perfect views of the reserve. All accommodation options contain the ruggedness necessary to capture the essence of the bush environment, without compromising on luxury and comfort.

There are five premier chalets available. Premier chalets are privately situated and have been built into the hillside. Each unit has been adorned with alfresco rock showers and indoor fire-places.

Family chalets are semi-detached, feature exterior stone work and come with their very own back-to-nature outdoor shower.

Luxury chalets are a hideaway haven. Snug, cosy and everything you would expect in an overnight, mid-week or weekend retreat.

Aquila Private Game Reserve is the ultimate African safari getaway, a Big 5 Game Reserve close to Cape Town, which is found less than two hours' drive from the city. Adventure quad-biking on hilly roads, roaming the woods on horseback, slow champagne sunset safaris, and close encounters with the Big Five are only a few of the things you can expect on an Aquila Cape Town Safari.

Aside from the Big 5, Aquila is home to hippo, giraffe, buck and over 170 different species of birds. Aquila offers a wide variety of safaris including horseback safaris, quad bike safaris, and fly-in safaris. There are other activities on offer like 4x4 trails, fishing and themed weekend breakaways. Aquila Private Game Reserve has gone to massive efforts and expense to source and re-introduce wildlife into the Cape region. A great emphasis is placed on a wildlife conservation educational experience. Aquila offers visitors a complimentary educational introduction to our cheetahs and the on-site Animal Rescue Center. Cheetahs are captive bred and strictly controlled in the interest of cheetah survival worldwide.

Facilities At Aquila Private Game Reserve

There is a 300 pax restaurant and smaller outdoor boma restaurant at Aquila. Both serve steamy buffet-style meals, cooked by world-class culinary fundies. Extending from the restaurant is a cosy cigar bar and lounge. Aquila has a 35-metre salt water swimming pool, with a trendy pool bar. There is also a conference centre, children's entertainment area, library, and curio shop and the newly completed spa at Aquila adds to the already exceptional services and facilities on offer.
