Top reasons to visit beautiful Bonaire in 2018

Bonaire is one of three islands in the Caribbean making up the Dutch Antilles or ABC islands and is one of the least tourist-developed and visited of the islands. It is a true paradise island destination with incredible azure waters and striking scenery both on land and under the sea. The incredible wind and flat waters of Lac Bay also mean it is a haven for windsurfers.

Here are our top reasons for visiting Bonaire in 2018.

Perfect windsurfing for all levels

The lagoon at Lac Bay is perfectly protected from the ocean by a big coral reef on one side and large mangrove forest on the other. This has created the perfect windsurfing environment for any skill level and the shallow crystal clear waters allow you the opportunity to windsurf without a wetsuit.

It’s outside the hurricane belt

Perfectly situated in the deep Southern Caribbean, Bonaire sits just outside the hurricane belt. This means that the island suffered none of the devastating effects from the 2017 storm season. That means the reef is as beautiful as ever and accommodations are fully operational.

The island lies just 50 miles off the coast of Venezuela and avoids the path of most storms. Bonaire averages only 22 inches of rainfall per year and the mild temperatures and cooling trade winds make it a perfectly temperate climate.

Incredible diving for those non-windy days

For those days when the wind refuses to blow, why not take to the underwater world and try some of the islands scuba diving or snorkelling adventures. Bonaire offers a pristine underwater environment with access to many locations for shore or boat diving.
