Prea Windsurfing Holidays

Brazil, the fifth largest country in the world, is a truly fascinating country with many extremes and contrasts: mangrove woods, colonial churches and architectural monuments influence the country as deep as materialism, spiritualism and a huge gap between poverty and wealth. The cultural and scenic diversity also reflects in the population. Brazilians are generally described as very proud people with a spirited nature, who love festivals and dancing. Their hospitality is certainly unique, but the Brazilians have many more reasons to be proud of their country.

As five times winner of the World Cup it is the most successful football nation in the world! On top of that, a new windsurfing star also comes from this huge and exciting country. His name is “Marcilio Browne“. Many of you have certainly already heard of him and our destination is more or less his home, and one of the best and windiest spots in Brazil. There are a lot of reasons for visiting Brazil, but for us windsurfers and kitesurfers it is of course the wind that magically attracts us - and there is plenty of it in Brazil!

While surfing a tube is the ultimate experience for surfers, the holy grail for windsurfers and kitesurfers is to find a spot with a wind guarantee....... In the northernmost part of the country, in the state Ceara, is the small fishing village Preá, only 10 km south of the windsurfing mecca Jericoacoara, a place that many of you have certainly already heard of. Some years ago we were already at this spot, fascinated by the vastness, the endless beaches, the beautiful landscape and the very steady winds. At that time we used to be the only surfers on the water. There was only the small fishing village Preá, ample space, steady wind but no hotels or surfing centres. Of course things have changed considerably since then! You can stay directly on the spot or alternatively you can stay in Jericoacoara as we offer you a daily shuttle service between Jeri and the center in Preá (additional charge).

With a wind rate of 99% between middle of June until December, Preá is one of the windiest kitesurfing spots worldwide. The wide, sandy beach of Preá is 15 km long and offers not only more than enough space for kitesurfers but also the perfect launching area right in front of the centre. Although the average wind speed is around 6 bft., the spot is also suited for kitesurf beginners as we offer in Preá only semi-private or private kitesurfing lessons, a fast progress is guaranteed.  Low tide provides dream-conditions for kitesurfers and also high tide makes the time one the water pure fun: it creates waves which are perfect for jumping.

Discover the local area on horseback, go sandboarding or enjoy a BBQ on the beach with some Brazilian tunes…but...the wind is so consistent here, you really don't need any other activities...

Enjoy some fabulous seafood at the Vila Preá, watch the local guys practice their capoeira on the beach and enjoy the weekly local band play some traditional music. Or take a 15 minute drive to Jeri for dinner and a change of scene.
